Monthly Theme: Gratitude
Sermon Topic: “A Cloud of Witnesses”

O Love That Will Not Let Me Go
Terre Johnson

O Love that will not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe
that in thine ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be,
may richer, fuller be.

O Light that follows all my way,
I yield my flick’ring torch to thee;
my heart restores its borrowed ray,
that in thy sunshine’s blaze its day may brighter, fairer be,
may brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
and feel the promise is not vain that morn shall tearless be,
that morn shall tearless be.

O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to hide from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
and from the ground there blossoms red life that shall endless be,
life that shall endless be.

O Love, O Love, that will not let me go.

Thankful

Some days we forget to look around us.
Some days we can’t see the joy that surrounds us.
So caught up inside ourselves,
we take when we should give.

So for tonight we pray for what we know we can be.
And on this day we hope for what we still can’t see.
It’s up to us to be the change,
and even though we all can still do more,
there’s so much to be thankful for.

Look beyond ourselves; there’s so much sorrow.
It’s way too late to say, “I’ll cry tomorrow.”
Each of us must find our truth,
so long overdue.

So for tonight we pray for what we know we can be.
And ev’ry day we hope for what we still can’t see.
It’s up to us to be the change,
and even though we all can still do more,
there’s so much to be thankful for.

Even with our diff’rences,
there is a place we’re all connected;
each of us can find each other’s light.

So for tonight we pray for what we know we can be.
On this day we hope for what we still can’t see.
It’s up to us to be the change,
and even though this world needs so much more,
there’s still so much to be thankful for.
