From Portland to Paris

This art show is a compilation of paintings created as a result of our travels to several wonderful places here in the USA and also in Europe. The show starts in Portland and ends in Paris with many paintings of places in between.

The USA portion of the show begins at the Broadway Bridge Grain Elevator, passes through the Gorge to Eastern Oregon and ends in Bar Harbor, Maine. The European sites include Venice, Italy and several French scenes from Normandy , the Loire Valley, Provence, and Brittany before ending in Paris.

In creating these paintings, I have had the opportunity to visit some of the loveliest areas of the USA and Europe. I love painting because the painting process forces me to very carefully “look” at the scene which is being painted. Making composition, color, and value decisions require a much higher level of observation than normal. This is one of the side benefits of painting.

By bring some of the basic painting techniques of the painting process to the creation of these paintings, I have also tried to make them more enjoyable to experience. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did creating it.
