In this volatile era, transformative approaches to engagement are crucial. With an outstanding faculty, this weekend workshop will explore enduring wisdom practices from the Buddhist and bhakti traditions.

Ram Dass is an American cultural pioneer whose journey through academia, psychedelia, social action, and spiritual exploration electrified the boomer generation, influencing American culture for 50 years. He continues to write and teach from his home on Maui.

Mirabai Bush is Senior Fellow at the Center for Contemplative Mind in Society, in Boston. In the 1980s, Mirabai directed Seva Foundation’s Guatemala Project, supporting sustainable agriculture and integrated community development in war-torn indigenous villages. Her spiritual study included training with S. N. Goenka and Anagarika Munindra, and with Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, Neem Karoli Baba, and Tibetan lamas Kalu Rinpoche, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Kyabje Gehlek Rinpoche, Tsoknyi Rinpoche.

Rameshwar Das spent two years in India studying vipassana and bhakti practices with Goenka and Neem Karoli Baba, and collaborated with Ram Dass on the seminal 1971 book, Be Here Now. Recently, he and Ram Dass coauthored Polishing the Mirror and Be Love Now. He is a founding director of Love Serve Remember Foundation and the Anna Mirabai Lytton Foundation, supporting yoga and wellness programs in schools in New York.

Jai Uttal is a Grammy-nominated artist who will offer a roof-raising Evening of Kirtan and Ecstatic Chant, with tabla artist Daniel Paul and Benjy and Heather Wertheimer of Portland’s Shantala. Jai studied Indian classical music with Ali Akbar Khan, and his musical influences span the globe from Mumbai to New York to Brazil.
