January 2020 Moderator Letter

Greetings and Happy New Year –

This past Sunday we hosted two Board Conversations about Senior Minister Transition where we shared information and answered your questions. Thank you to the over 100 of you who attended!

In addition we have met or have on our schedule to meet with many of the committees and groups at First Unitarian to share the word widely and invite all of you to be involved in this process.

We are continually updating Senior Minister FAQ’s on our board page (here) with information to help you be better informed.

Most important right now is the January 1 – 26 time period to apply to be a member of the Senior Minister Search Committee. [PLEASE NOTE: Deadline has been extended to Sunday, Feb. 2.] If you are interested, information and application are here.

Service on the Search Committee requires voting membership which is to have signed the membership book and be pledging generously within your means. If you want to apply to the SC and are not a voting member, you may apply by Jan 26, sign the membership book in February (first Sunday), pledge and be eligible.

Since our ability to meet our goals and work toward our mission and vision are directly tied to having a sustainable budget that allows us to meet our existing needs and move into the future, let me update you on our Annual Fund Drive. We are currently at 89.5% of our pledge goal, leaving us $167,000 short of meeting our goal. The average pledge is $140 per month. Whether you can give $140/mo or $14/mo, please consider pledging generously within your means.

As always, if you have questions or comments, you can email us at board@firstunitarianportland.org.

I look forward to seeing you all in church . . .

In Gratitude,

Kathy Ludlow
