Alliance Greens Sale News

Alliance Greens Sale

This coming Sunday, December 3rd, is the 1st day of our Annual Greens Sale – with ALL of the proceeds going to organizations that support women & children and to special projects at our Church. If you have not already purchased your holiday wreath – this is the place to do it.
In addition, we have wonderful “treasures” – Think scarves, handbags, hats, belts, gloves, jewelry, and of course holiday decorations. This is the third year that The Alliance will offer hand-crafted items as part of the Greens Sale! Look for Table Runners, Tablecloths, Aprons, Bottle Bags, Knitted and Crocheted Scarves, Hats, Socks, Hand Warmers and Baby Sweaters. And it would not be an Alliance Greens Sale without our wonderful baked goods!
The Greens Sale will continue on Sunday, December 10th.

PRE-SALE items ordered for pick-up will be in Fuller Hall.

Salmon Street Shelter Gift Cards

The Alliance will be collecting gift cards to distribute to the 13 Salmon Street families we help support at their December 16thHoliday Party. Gift cards for Regal Cinemas, Fred Meyer, Target, Starbucks, VISA (Prepaid) and Amazon.com are most appreciated. You can participate by purchasing any of these gift cards and bringing them to the Church Office (ask to have them placed in The Alliance inbox) or bringing them to The Alliance Luncheon on December 6th.
Gift cards are available at the church’s Scrip table in Fuller Hall. Please order these soon, as it takes several weeks for the cards to be delivered to you.
Thank you for your enthusiastic generosity on behalf of our shelter families and their holiday cheer.

Alliance December Catered Luncheon & Musical Program

The Alliance’s December 6 program is “Musical Journeys in Black and White” featuring eleven-year-old Noah Carr, who has been playing the violin since he was four, and First Church pianist Signe Lusk. When Noah was 18 months old, he picked up two sticks and rubbed them together, violin-style. Then at four, he began taking lessons, and with Signe’s encouragement has played several times for our Sunday service.
Together Signe and Noah will present a progression of vignettes and music chosen for its relevance to stages in Noah’s life. Included is music from a Bach gavotte to “Schindler’s List,” and expect a few other surprising selections!

Our Annual Holiday December catered lunch will be prepared by Elephants Deli and will feature turkey with the usual yummy trimmings. The cost is $14 which includes the dessert and sexton fees.

Your timely RSVP is very important to ensure we have ordered the proper amount of food and set up the correct number of tables and chairs. We look forward to seeing you at the luncheon as we will celebrate the upcoming holidays together.

Remember, we will begin lunch starting at 11:00 am, the business meeting will start at 11:45 and the program in the Elliot Chapel will begin at 12:30.

Please RSVP HERE no later than this Saturday, December 2nd. If our link does not work for you, you can send an email to: AllianceRSVP@firstunitarianportland.org by copying this address into a new email.
