Letter from the Board – June 2025

As your church Treasurer and Board member, I have three items to share with all of you.

The biggest news is that the Stewardship Committee has been re-formed. So far our congregant members are Dave Hoffman, Mabsie Walters, Dev Dion, and me. We will work closely with the Executive Team and Stewardship Manager Erin Tafuri. We have begun a 3-to-5 year plan on developing an even more generous church. More on this soon!

Secondly, your board will use the summertime to reflect on our accomplishments of last year and plans for next year. We will be in retreat at the end of August, when we will spend a day and a half in discussions about the 8th Principle, goals for the board, and each committee, (Finance, Communications and Governance), and setting the board’s calendar for the coming year.

Lastly, as Treasurer, I want to give an update on the workings of the Finance committee. As many of you know we have a number of task forces that address the church’s financial issues.

Financial Literacy and Transparency
This group has been gathering information from other churches on how the finances are shared with their congregants to make the information more understandable and meaningful. You will begin to see changes in the new church year.

Reserve Accounts
We have updated the church’s reserve accounts to eliminate ones without a balance and will now, with the help of the Executive Team (Rev. Alison Miller, Rev. Thomas Disrud, and Church Administrator Kathryn Estey), determine the purpose of each account in accordance with the intentions of the donors.

FDIC Accounts
We have successfully transferred eligible church accounts into interest bearing accounts, adding another source of revenue for the operating fund.

Buildings & Grounds Maintenance
Work with church staff to assure that regular maintenance of all the buildings is on schedule.

Sincerely,

Roger Robinson, Treasurer
