Kelly S. (she/her) first encountered Unitarian Universalism while looking for a spiritual community that reflected her values. Years later, during a time of transition, she found grounding and connection at Unity Temple in Oak Park, Illinois, especially through its mindfulness sangha. After moving to Portland, she and her son visited several congregations before finding their way to First Unitarian, which immediately felt like home.
Kelly is a leadership coach who loves helping people reflect, grow, and act with intention. She facilitates SMART Recovery meetings, volunteers as a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind with her son, and enjoys reading, walking, exploring Portland, and creative projects. Earlier in life she played bass in an indie rock band, a story that still surprises people. At First Unitarian, Kelly volunteers in the church office and looks forward to deepening her involvement in small group and spiritual growth opportunities
