Kathryn (Kate) W

Kate W. (she/her) first began attending First Unitarian Portland in 2001 and has returned at different points in her life ever since. First Unitarian is her first and only Unitarian Universalist home, drawn by shared values, the then-seven principles, and a community grounded in inclusivity rather than dogma or creed—especially around diverse understandings of the divine and full welcome of LGBTQ people.

Kate’s interests include photography, Jungian studies (including dreamwork and tarot), birdwatching, native plant gardening, and multimedia art such as Soul Collage, along with walking and hiking. She is still clarifying how she most wants to serve in the congregation, and feels drawn to areas like conflict resolution, adult education, music, and helping members deepen their involvement in congregational life. She is especially interested in how the gifts, skills, and aptitudes of members can be better recognized and engaged in the shared work of the community.
