When people are new, they often ask me and others: What is a good way to get to know people in our community? There are a few answers to this, including classes, community/covenant circles, volunteering on a team, and hosting or attending Auction Events. Would you please help us to build community in the year ahead by considering hosting an event? The Auction Team will be accepting new events through Monday, April 13.
You might be wondering: what kind of event could I host? Here are twenty-two suggestions. You could choose one, or come up with your own:
- Group hike
- Crafty gathering
- Dinner at your house
- Picnic lunch in the park
- Cheese and wine tasting (with nonalcoholic options)
- Belgian feast (muscles, cheese, frites, beer)
- Another regional themed event
- Boat outing
- Dance party with a DJ
- Teaching folk dance party
- Pizza Making Party
- Bowling party
- An un-birthday party
- Pasta and Poetry Dinner
- Poetry and Pastries
- Pancake Breakfast
- Role-playing game night
- Bagel Brunch
- Breadmaking party
- Constellation Viewing Event
- Murder Mystery Party
- Pickleball Tournament
The whole point of our Auction is to FUN-raise alongside some fundraising. We have a chance to support the church by bidding high and staying dry since our proceeds will go to our roof. And, most importantly, we have an opportunity to enjoy time together.
By the way, we have some scholarships for attending an event, if you are experiencing a year of financial hardship. In addition, some folks buy an extra ticket for people to increase access. All are invited to join in the fun!
With gratitude for all of you,
Rev. Alison
