February: Suzanne Ebert

I have been painting for over 25 years. Prior to painting I worked in the travel industry. That all changed with the advancement of the internet, so I decided to pursue my first love, painting. I paint in many mediums, from watercolor, acrylics, to cold wax and oil with collage.  I begin a painting by sketching out a piece and then adding color as the painting moves along.  If I find success, I will now transfer the painting to canvas or board. Sometimes it works and sometimes not, however I find the journey to be extremely satisfying. I have shown my work in many places, from fine art galleries to restaurants, libraries, coffee houses and various art shows.  I am a member of OSA, (Oregon Society of Artists), WSO, (the Watercolor Society of Oregon) and Westside Women’s Art Share. I enjoy many mediums. I began my journey in watercolor. I love the playful spirit of this medium. It is very satisfying to watch the interaction the paint has when mixed with water. allowing the viewer to experience the playful spirit of this medium as the painting soon takes on a life of its own. Then I started working with acrylic. I love the brightness of acrylics and the fast drying of this medium . This allows endless possibilities. I also love working with collage, oil and cold wax. This medium provides many opportunities. to experiment with wonderful results. My inspiration. What inspires me is nature, our ever-changing world and then being able to combine all of this into a painting. Anything can inspire me, from an old farmhouse to a friend’s child or pet or even just the shape of an orange. I can just imagine the many possibilities that can result from a simple shape.
