The mission of the Denomination Connections Committee is to increase awareness within our congregation of the Unitarian Universalist world and how we can both benefit from and support its many branches.

The Denomination Connections Committee facilitates communications between our congregation and our committee, between our congregation and other UU congregations in the area, and between our congregation and the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and its many organizations. This would include, for example, recruiting delegates to the UUA General Assembly (annual meeting), and communicating with the congregation about the actions of the GA.

There are also many organizations within the UUA that work on issues that engage committees of our church. For instance, Create Climate Justice has various activities and actions that link to the work of our Community for Earth. Immigration Justice works with our Immigrant Justice Action Group (IJAG) and Economic Justice cooperates with Economic Justice Action Group (EJAG).

There are also regional UUA groups for us to connect with. At the regional level, there is Pacific Western Region (PWR) which offers support services to the church and has an annual gathering. At the state level, the Earth Ministry Washington an interfaith organization which lobbies at the state on social and economic justice. In the Portland region, the many UU congregations offer mutual support through the Mt. Hood Cluster.
