Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been hobbling around a fair amount the last few months. I’ve been living with arthritic pain in my hips for some time and there has been a long wait to schedule replacement surgery. A couple weeks ago I received word that I am now on the schedule and next week I’ll be having hip replacement surgery.
I expect I will be away from my responsibilities at the church for a few weeks and hopefully back for a new church year in September. In a few months I hope to have surgery on my other hip.
I can’t say I look forward to the surgery but I do look forward to living with less pain. This journey so far has had its share of lessons, including a greater appreciation for people who live with chronic pain. I have also felt your care and concern for me through this time.
How can you help? I hope you’ll keep me in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks. I would much appreciate that a great deal. I’ll also ask you for some space so that I can focus on my healing and recovery.
I look forward to being back in a few weeks.
Blessings,
Rev. Tom
