An update about our Campaign for 2026
In a time when so many congregations are struggling, we are blessed to co-create a vibrant, multigenerational church made up of people who are growing in spirit, community, and impact. In large part, we are able to do all we do together because of the generous support of all of you – the individuals and families who give of yourselves, your time, your talents, and your financial treasure. Thank you to all of you who have supported our community for a long time, all of you who are newer supporters, and all of you who are hoping to join our efforts soon.
Here is our update:
At the beginning of this month, we shared that we had raised $1.3 million towards our 2026 campaign “Weaving Threads of Generosity.” This is a meaningful sum of money, which we will translate into all the ministries of worship and music, caring and learning, justice-making and community-building.
We also want to be transparent with you. We set an ambitious goal of $1.475 million to be able to support the current staffing levels, facilities needs, programs and ministries. We will likely not reach that goal by the end of the year, and we are making thoughtful plans with that in mind.
Remember, we are still navigating the challenges that the shifting landscape of religion, the pandemic, and rising costs has posed to all religious communities, including ours. We also are weathering a gap in our rental income with the reduced footprint of the school who rents from us, even as we try to secure another renter.
In order to narrow the funding shortfall we asked for your help in raising an additional $50,000–$60,000 to minimize the cuts and tough decisions ahead. The good news is that we are well on our way to what we hoped for, which is wonderful!
And, we would love for more of you to consider making a pledge or a one-time gift to the Campaign for 2026.
If you are ready to join our campaign, a pledge is an amount you promise to fulfill between January and December. This is a promise. If you get a raise, you can add to what you pledged. If you have something negative happen financially, you can let us know you need to adjust downwards. What’s important is to communicate to us what’s happening. We understand about the ups-and-downs of life.
You can make a one-time gift for 2026 here.
You can make a pledge of support for 2026 here.
Together, we – the ministers, program staff, admin staff, facilities staff, members and friends – each offer our gifts of time, talent, and treasure according to our bounty. This adds up to what’s possible – to ministries that weave a web of community, hope, and resilience in Portland and beyond.
With gratitude,
Rev. Alison
