Each year, members and friends pledge financially to support the work and mission of First Unitarian Church. Pledges account for the largest percentage of our operating budget.  So, every new pledge plays a decisive role in the ability of First Church to fulfill its mission each year. Won't you consider making your pledge now, for the remainder of this calendar year?

Making a Meaningful Pledge
When it comes to actually determining the amount of your annual pledge, the decision is yours. No set amount is required. Instead, you are asked to think deeply about the role of First Church in your life.

We count on the church, unlike most other organizations we support, to be there for us in a very personal way. We bring all of ourselves to this church as we make life’s journey. At First Church you belong to a community where you are able to both give and receive year after year. Our money often goes to places that we have no choice about. So when we do have a choice, it is gratifying to support this community that reflects our deepest values.

Knowing what it costs to sustain the church is important information to have as we each determine our pledges. A suggested giving guide is included in the Annual Fund Drive brochure as a simple tool to use in thinking about your gift. About $1,800 per pledging household is needed this year to sustain the church and its programs, and provide for growth. First Church congregants’ financial situations are diverse; some congregants must give less and others are able to give more.  So every year we ask those fortunate people who can give more to do so. Can you?

There is no minimum pledge requirement; however voting members of the church are asked to  "pledge generously within their means to the annual operating fund of the church." All church members and friends are encouraged to do likewise.

What Is "Pledging Generously Within Your Means"?
This approach to pledging asks that you look within your heart and determine the financial commitment to our church community that calls you to generosity.  In making this decision, you may wish to consider the role of the church in your life, the church's needs, and your own financial situation. In deciding how much to give, consider whether the amount you pledge will make a meaningful difference in your life. Keep in mind:

You are the only one who can decide what pledge amount is "generous within your means." Every pledge, no matter the size, makes a difference.
