John Boelling
Associate Director of Music, Women's Choir
John first came to sing at First Unitarian Portland as a tenor section leader in 1998 and has been involved ever since. He is the founding director of the UU Women’s Choir, going strong since 2011. John is also the new director of the West Hills UU Fellowship Choristers. In addition to directing, John is a private vocal instructor, enjoys composing and arranging choral music, and sings with the Portland Opera Chorus. John also makes delicious vegan soups for the choirs on Wednesday and Thursday nights! John holds a Bachelor of Music from Portland State University and a Masters in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. He shares a happy home in the NE Cully Neighborhood with wife Cynthia, daughter Greta, and doggie companion June.
