Young Religious Unitarian Universalists (YRUU)
11:15 Only -- YRUU is a balanced program for high school-age youth that provides opportunities to explore and learn about worship, Unitarian Universalism, community service, leadership and fellowship. Youth share responsibilities along with adults for planning, organizing and leading these elements.
This year, YRUU will study two of the seven Unitarian Universalist principles:
- The inherent worth and dignity of every person.
- Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
They will look at the unique elements of each of these principles and examine the broader implications in today's society.
Each year the senior youth create a congregational worship service. This year it will be Sunday, March 16, 2008. It has always been an excellent way for the congregation to appreciate the talents and skills of its younger leaders.
The Youth Council holds a monthly meeting with elected youth representatives and it is open to any interested youth. They assist youth advisors, Religious Education staff and parent representatives in planning activities.
Youth are encouraged to attend church events, social action activities, local and district-wide conferences. We maintain a mailing list as well as an email list, and regularly send information to families to keep youth and parents informed of upcoming activities.
