We are delighted to recognize our organist, Joe O’Donnell, for his 15 years of service to our church. Actually he is in his 16th year but there was a bit of time after we had all services in the present Sanctuary before we acquired the organ there. During that time Joe loyally waited to resume his work at the church. Joe has a rich background in church music and I urge you to read his biography on the church website. Besides his considerable qualifications I want you all to know that working with Joe is always a positive experience. He brings such a positive, joyful attitude with his excellent musical skills. So often Joe goes way beyond what is required of him. He’s arranged all the duets that he and Signe Lusk, our pianist, play and has notated with computer software countless scores at my request. His can-do attitude on all fronts is a major part of the joyful vibe you all sense in the music we present at the church. To celebrate Joe’s 15+ years with us he will be featured in our Christmas Music & Worship Service, A Christmas Prayer, on December 11 at both services. Joe will play movements of the George F. Handel Concerti Due Cori with string orchestra as offertory and postlude in the service. At our May 20 Music & Worship presentation Joe will again be featured with the orchestra and we will celebrate him with a special presentation. I know that you will help all of us honor Joe for his excellent and thoughtful musical contributions to our worship lives. Be sure to say “Hi and thanks” to him when you have a chance. You will discover what an interesting, warm and funny guy he is.
