First Unitarian Portland has a partner Unitarian church in Budapest, Hungary. This partnership was established by congregational vote in May, 2004 with the intent to develop cross-cultural ties, exchange theological, philosophical and political ideas and to engender mutual support of Unitarians around the world. In addition we seek, by this partnership, to create a historical connection, personally engage in peaceful dialogues with our international brethren, and understand ourselves in an international context. Over the past six years we have indeed developed some wonderful friendships with our Unitarian brethren there and learned much about their lives and our Unitarian heritage. Learn more about our partnership with Budapesti Unitárius Egyházközség (and some catchy Hungarian phrases), as well as potential travel opportunities.
