Our faith knows that “revelation is not sealed,” that there is more truth, more wisdom and more peace for each of us to find on our personal journeys. We are always “works in progress.” We face new challenges every day and some old challenges that could benefit from new perspectives as well. Our individual needs vary greatly. The breadth of offerings available at First Unitarian tries to speak to that variety, to the individual challenges and desires that we bring with us to the church.
That breadth is a blessing, but it can also be a challenge. “How can I make connections in this large community?” “Where can I meet others who share my concerns?” “How can I find what I need at this point in my life?”
Throughout this website you will find various avenues to connection, with general descriptions of what we offer along with contact information for easy access to detailed information. Check out the Making Connections publication—that is a good place to begin. Also, check out our Adult Programs web page to find out about the newest adult classes and retreats. Check the weekly e-news for upcoming events, visit one of the many tables in coffee hour or just ask another member or one of the staff.
We hope that one of these possibilities will speak to you. Your experience and the value you find in this church will be deepened as you make connections. Religious meaning is revealed most often in relationship. There is an important role of individual reflection and spiritual practice to be sure. But it is in living together that the Spirit of Life most often and most powerfully moves. Taking part in one of the many affinity groups, small groups or action groups we offer can deepen not only you connection to the church, but your connection to yourself
One of the best ways to stay connected with everything happening at First Unitarian is our weekly e-newsletter, “Front Steps”. Sent to over 3,000 congregants and friends of the church every Thursday afternoon, “Front Steps” highlights the upcoming Sunday’s sermon topic, and other important community events, activities, and projects.
